About Us

Elim Ministries is based in Fish Hoek, a coastal town 30 km south of Cape Town, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Our fellowship was founded in March 1999 and consists of believers from a variety of backgrounds who all share a common desire to base their belief, not on manipulative man-made doctrines or charming church traditions, but on the “ancient paths” (YermeYahu / Jeremiah 18:15), the “cloud of witnesses” (Ivrim / Hebrews 12:1) as well as the “good news of the Messiah” (2 Corinthians 10:14) spoken of in Scriptures.

It is our aim, first and foremost, to equip and encourage the members of our own assembly and those participating in our local activities. Over a period of 25 years, however, Elim Ministries has become a source of information and inspiration for believers from many different backgrounds and from various parts of Southern Africa and the rest of the world. There is a very significant growth in the number of Messianic and Torah-loving believers, worldwide today. People who are serious about building their lives upon Biblical principles, many of whom have been dedicated believers for the majority of their lives, are beginning to ask questions about some of the teachings, doctrines and traditions that have shaped their lives for a very long time. At Elim Ministries we are trying to give assistance and Scriptural guidelines to people like this. We do not claim to have all the answers. But we have come to know some of the challenges, hindrances, deceptions and temptations, and also the rewards and highlights of choosing a lifestyle of belief, back to the basics of the complete Biblical Scriptures.

Our place of assembly is a private home in Fish Hoek and since we believe that the Sabbath or “Shabbat” has never been given up or changed or substituted by the One who inspired the composition of the Biblical Scriptures, Yahweh the Almighty, we have our weekly meetings on Saturday afternoons, 3 pm. Our fellowship is overseen by John Wahl, who has been involved in full time ministry for 37 years. John is married to Hannelie (a high school Maths teacher) and they have three married children: Hubré, Johan and Stefan, and two grandchildren, Juda and Hanna. Previously, John was a minister of the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa for 11 years.
