About Us

Find out HERE when our next online meeting will be. Click HERE to join us for this meeting, via Teams.

Elim Ministries is based in Fish Hoek, a coastal town 30 km south of Cape Town, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Our fellowship was founded in March 1999 and consists of believers from a variety of backgrounds who all share a common desire to base their belief, not on manipulative man-made doctrines or charming church traditions, but on the “ancient paths” (YermeYahu / Jeremiah 18:15), the “cloud of witnesses” (Ivrim / Hebrews 12:1) as well as the “good news of the Messiah” (2 Corinthians 10:14) spoken of in Scriptures. It is our aim, first and foremost, to equip and encourage the members of our own assembly and those participating in our local activities. Over a period of 27 years, however, Elim Ministries has become a source of information and inspiration for believers from many different backgrounds and from various parts of Southern Africa and the rest of the world. There is a very significant growth in the number of Messianic and Torah-loving believers, worldwide today. People who are serious about building their lives upon Biblical principles, many of whom have been dedicated believers for the majority of their lives, are beginning to ask questions about some of the teachings, doctrines and traditions that have shaped their lives for a very long time. At Elim Ministries we are trying to give assistance and Scriptural guidelines to people like this. We do not claim to have all the answers. But we have come to know some of the challenges, hindrances, deceptions and temptations, and also the rewards and highlights of choosing a lifestyle of belief, back to the basics of the complete Biblical Scriptures. Our place of assembly is a private home in Fish Hoek and since we believe that the Sabbath or “Shabbat” has never been given up or changed or substituted by the One who inspired the composition of the Biblical Scriptures, Yahweh the Almighty, we have our weekly meetings on Saturday afternoons, 3 pm. Our fellowship is overseen by John Wahl, who has been involved in full time ministry for 39 years. John is married to Hannelie (a high school Maths teacher) and they have three married children: Hubré, Johan and Stefan, and two grandchildren, Juda and Hanna. Previously, John was a minister of the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa for 11 years. Please use this opportunity to take a good look at our site and make use of what we have to offer. If you are touched or inspired or just intrigued by what you are seeing here, we are looking forward to hearing from you soon!

  1. Hi! Is it OK that I go a bit off topic? I am trying to view your blog on my iPad but it doesn’t display properly, do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Stewart

  2. Good Day. My name is Riccardo. I live in Mitchell’s Plain and currantly attending the United Reform church of M/Plain (Dutch Reform). I’m 40 years of age and am in search of a bible believing church. Please help?! 084 522 7677 or 021 371 4574

    1. Hi Riccardo

Nice to hear from someone so close by. Most churches believe they are “Bible believing” but, as the saying goes, the proof of the pudding lies in the eating. There is a growing number of people today who, like yourself, have a keen desire to return to the Biblical or Scriptural lifestyle and belief. The reason why the majority of these people are looking out for a bible believing church, is exactly because they have seen and experienced things in their own churches that are not in line with what is taught in Scriptures. Please contact us again or pay us a visit – all details with regards to our services, etc, may be found on this website. At the moment I do not have any details of a fellowship in your immediate vicinity that I can recommend unconditionally.

    1. Hi Amelda

Jammer ek antwoord so laat. Hoop dit help so ‘n bietjie …

  4. Hi John.

Mooibly!

    1. Good morning. I have read your post with great interest and it seems to be perfectly in line with what others have been saying over the years. It is also confirmed very clearly in this article, among others. I am not a Rabbi, and the group that I represent are not physical Jews, and the “Elim” in Limpopo that you refer to, has no connection with Elim Ministries, here in Fish Hoek in the Western Cape. I sincerely hope, however, that you, and those whom you represent, will be able to reconnect with your Jewish roots.

  6. Hi John,

  7. Do you have shabbat meetings in English? I’m very interested in the Messianic but do not speak Africans. Arlette Hunt cell : 0634332454

  9. (John: I have used Google to translate Gabriel’s message from Spanish into English, hoping that the translation is not too far off:)

Good afternoon people of God, I’m Gabriel, I wish that by the end of the year we can overcome the coronavirus and learn a lot from these times we have been living.

Share with the congregation whenever you remember for a friend (Daniele Generoso) to recover soon from cancer, her email address is psicologadanielageneroso@gmail.com.

Pray also that I continue standing on Christ Jesus and can overcome the princes of darkness of this century as the bible says.

Thank you in advance for your prayer and communion.

    1. Hi Gabriel, we are asking all those who will be reading this, during the weeks to follow, to join in prayer for your friend, Daniele Generoso. Together with you, and those close to you, we are trusting Yahweh, through his Son, Y’shua, to enable us to overcome, in these difficult times. John.

  10. Good evening, my name is Lillian. I would like to know more about the calender that you are using, the reason is that there are so many calenders out there and I am in the process of learning which is the correct calender to follow.

    1. Hi Lilian. I am aware of the fact that there are many calendars out there. It is sad, but also a challenge to return to the proper principles in determining the days, months and feast days throughout any given year. In this regard, we try to follow Scriptures only, and not the calendars of any particular group. Over the years we have found that there are many groups, worldwide, who do likewise and end up following the same calendar as we do. Below are some of the links to articles on our website in which this aspect is discussed and/or explained. Please feel free to discuss anything that is not clear to you.

  11. This is the best news I have received in a long time. I am lost in this world, going to be alone soon and after seven years of trying to go into ministry and counseling, giving others the truth about our Father YHWH, financially and in my situation could not do this. But I know it is my calling. I have nothing left in this world, no finances and to old to start a worldly career. Looking to work inly for the Lord, learning His Word and helping other lost souls to His feet. I need a opportunity to stay and learn all that the Holy Spirit have to teach without worrying about were will the money come from. How can you help please. I am a 48 year old female, my heart was broken when I left Western Cape six years ago. Life was a struggle, I am tired of this Battle alone. I think my marriage is over so I have no home to go to. I need our YHWH today!!! Shabbat blessings to you and everyone there. CH
