We believe that both the Pre-Messianic Scriptures (Old Testament) and the Messianic Scriptures (New Testament) are inspired by Yahweh, the Almighty. At the same time we are fully aware of the fact that many of the modern translations of the Scriptures have been influenced by church doctrines, church history and man-made traditions. One example of this is the fact that in thousands of verses in the Pre-Messianic Scriptures, our heavenly Father’s true and personal name, Yahweh, has been substituted in many translations by the word “LORD” – a word that is definitely not a personal name and generally used for almost any “god” under the sun! In our view this is a tragedy and something that needs to be set straight in the translation and use of Scriptures.

Contrary to the popular teachings in many churches we also believe that the law of Yahweh (the “Torah”) has never been abandoned, that the people of Israel is still very much on Yahweh’s agenda and that our heavenly Father has never intended the “church” of the New Testament to follow a different set of values or change to a different religion than what He had previously already established in what we refer to as the “Old Testament”. One of the consequences of our view in this regard is that we acknowledge the seventh day Sabbath as “the Sabbath of Yahweh” and not the “Sabbath of the Jews (only)” and therefore a day which should be kept in accordance with the clear teaching of Scriptures as a whole.

Furthermore, we believe that Scriptures are quite clear on the issue that all true believers (not infants!) should be baptized (not sprinkled!) in the Name of Y’shua, the Messiah. The Hebrew name, Y’shua (a shorter form or nickname for Yahushua or Yehoshua, which means “Yahweh is Salvation” or “Salvation of Yahweh”) was the name by which our Saviour was known and called when He lived and walked among the people of this world – not the Greek name “Iesous” or the English name “Jesus” which are derived, approximate names that do not properly reflect the inherent meaning of the original Name. The members of the early assemblies of New Testament times were all baptized specifically in the Name of Y’shua.

We believe that salvation comes through Yahweh’s favour alone and not through works. We believe that Y’shua the Messiah is the only Way to the Father and therefore the true Hope of our eternal destiny. Only those who truly believe in Him as the Messiah and obey his commandments (which are not different from the commandments of his Father) will be saved. Obeying his commandments is not a way of earning our salvation, it is the result of receiving the Spirit of truth and consequently worshiping Yahweh in Spirit and in truth.

We believe the New Covenant is not a covenant with a body of people other that the nation of Israel. Nevertheless, we as gentiles (non-Jews) may become partakers of this new covenant when we are grafted into Israel whom Scriptures describe as the original or natural olive tree. The “newness” of the New Covenant does not refer to any of the parties of the covenant (Yahweh or Israel). Neither does it refer to the promises made by Yahweh or to the conditions attached to those promises (obedience to Yahweh by adhering to His laws or the “Torah”). No, the “newness” of the new covenant is when the Spirit of Yahweh starts to do something in the hearts of Messianic believers that brings about a new desire and an inner motivation to love Yahweh and to love other people and to obey each Scriptural commandment that is aimed at achieving this goal.
